Alma Elste: Parisian Artist Buzzes After New Relase

February 12, 2016

Indie musician Alma Elste was the third top trending artist on the A&R Moneyball charts for this week.  Far more impressive is the 209% increase in popularity she saw since last week, the same week that she released her third single, “Limitless” (more on why this is so impressive in the “Future” section below).  The 23 year old Paris native not only provides vocals on this track but also showcases her producing skills and overall creativity.

Music:

“Limitless” is a heavily processed synth track with dark and haunting vocals that have the same distant tone that is, at times, reminiscent of Lorde mixed with London Grammar in a lower register, with lyrics of leaving love behind.  One of the more interesting production elements is how there is a synth drone at the bottom of the track, that remains constant throughout, swelling and subsiding, but never actually falling to silence.  The backing synth is met by other synth elements and varying beats that give a sense of change of tempo at times, and adding different dynamics to the verse and chorus.  “Limitless” is quite different from Alma Elste’s debut single, “Heart Melter” which is far more instrumental and up tempo and is equally enjoyable.

Future:

It is still very early in Alma Este’s career, however the initial buzz around her first few tracks is very promising.  Just to give a little insight into how the A&R Moneyball chart works – Alma Elste’s growth over the past week is quite significant considering that we first noticed her the week she released her new single.  This means that an artist this small was creating a substantial amount of buzz.  This week, being the week after her song release, showed a 209% increase, which is exactly what you want to see in an emerging artist because that means that people have had time to share the track with their friends, really give it a good listen, and now it is generating more buzz, meaning more people like it.  This growth should continue with her first headlining show

coming up later this month in London and we expect there will be many more to follow.
