Daniel Docherty: Glasgow Busker Extraordinaire
Scottish singer songwriter Daniel Docherty saw a 50% increase in popularity on the A&R Moneyball charts from last week. Having spent time busking on the streets of Glasgow, he is now beginning to get larger recognition with shows throughout the UK. He is also starting to get greater online recognition, being the 6th most popular artist on Spotify’s UK Viral chart this past week.

Right from the beginning of “Colours” it is apparent that Daniel Docherty is an unbelievably talented musician, playing incredibly elaborate fingerpicking passes before entering with Ed Sheeran-like vocals that complement the music perfectly. As the track progresses, the astute listener is almost left in disbelief as he continues with guitar playing reminiscent of Andy McKee (complete with percussion hits on his guitar) while singing at the same time, effectively becoming a one man
band. Due to his talent, Daniel Docherty’s strongest tracks are the ones that are the most minimalistic with little accompaniment.
Future:
While Daniel Docherty is just beginning to get noticed by the larger British community, it is clear that he is an immense talent. Through his busking, he has shown that he has a true passion for sharing his music with the world and is willing to do whatever it takes to be successful. With the proper guidance to navigate the industry, we could see him following a similar path as Ed Sheeran.
